Hello friends. I’ve been quiet for several months now since I haven’t felt like I needed to add to the mass of hand wringing that’s dominated media the last few months. Since this blog is (supposed to be) about place and community, it seemed like a good time to back-burner it.
Many resist returning to indoor life as fall becomes winter and we wait out the pandemic, but I’m looking forward to a slower pace, a chance to rest. Because I am employed, can pay my bills and buy stuff I want, because I have not lost anyone close to me, I have the luxury of complaining only about the micro-disruptions to my routines and lost opportunities to enjoy live music and restaurants. I’ve finally moved into my new permanent home after several impermanent situations. I spent November unpacking artwork and books I haven’t seen in over a year. My favorite reading chair is next to my bookshelves and the gas fireplace (remote controlled fire?! The luxury!). I adopted a good used dog who snores adorably (Charlotte, in the center of the photo above). Books, a comfy chair, a warm fire, a dog… it’s a good life.
I wish you all good health and good fortune, a peaceful holiday season, and a happy new year.
